TIEF2015 was honoured to provide more than 600 attendees with opportunities to share ideas, learn from the case studies and examine the new tendencies of Islamic Finance and its fast growing market. We would like to thank all attendees for the support and the enthusiastic participation.

Held for the second consecutive year in Turin on October 19th   and 20th 2015, the TIEF took place at the iconic University of Turin Campus Luigi Einaudi Main Hall and focused on connecting finance to real economic activities. The agenda has been set up on three main topics - Finance/Food/ Fashion – skillfully enhanced by 53 Italian and international speakers divided into seven thematic Sessions.

The first session on October 19th  introduced the audience to the role that public institutions (Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre and Chambers of Commerce of Turin and Italian in the UAE) and private (CRT Foundation) may play in the development of Islamic finance. The debate continued with the Islamic capital market session with a particularly important contribution by Mr Abayomi A. Alawode (World Bank)  and the launching of the AIAF study on Italian Sukuk. Dr. Giustiniani (responsible for the "Islamic Finance Group" AIAF) also discussed the case of the possible use of this financial tool by the municipal authorities.

The afternoon has been dedicated to the Food: Thomson Reuters presented the results of the report just published at the Global Islamic Economy Summit in Dubai and two Italian certification bodies met Italian (Sebaste, The Granary of Ideas, ABIT, RF Cosmetics Vercelli Group) and international (TrueBell Dubai) companies.

On  October 20th , the British Alrayan Bank, the Bank of Italy and ABI talked about the development of the Islamic retail banking in the EU and Italy, and Mr Sevket Can Tulumen (MUSIAD, and Istanbul Chamber of Commerce) talked about crowdfunding.

Alia Khan (IFDC - Islamic Fashion Design Council) was the Session Chair for Fashion. As for the Food one, this Session has been introduced by Thomson Reuters Dubai which,  together with the Turkish sociologist Neslihan Cevik, opened the debate amongst Italian companies such as Miroglio and Cavalli as well as international ones such as Modanisa, Hasema and Louella – the brand founded by Ibtihaj Muhammad, member of the United States Fencing National Team.
The University and the Young Entrepreneurs sessions closed the Turin Islamic Economic Forum 2015.

Prof. Paolo Biancone moderated a discussion among Italian and foreign professors on the frontiers of Islamic finance in the academic world. Cristina Tumiatti, President of the Young Entrepreneurs of Turin, presented the views and experiences of young Italians who have approached this market.

During the two days, in the Main Hall of the Campus Luigi Einaudi, attendees and guests had the chance to admire the Islamic works of art of the calligrapher Shamira Minozzi, appreciated Venetian artist that advocates the dialogue between cultures.

The TIEF 2015 is fast emerging as a prime event dedicated to the Islamic eco-system in the Euro zone.

Organized by the City of Turin in partnership with the University of Turin and the Chamber of Commerce of Turin, and in collaboration with ASSAIF, the event has been supported by Fondazione CRT and sponsored by Tecno Holding, Turkish Airlines, Iren, GTT, DEDEM and Alexandra Alberta Chiolo SpA.
